Happy Little Things is an oracle card project I did with Lo Scarabeo. It took around 3 months. In the process of creating the cards, life-changing events were happening. I was going through a breakup, depression, and moving from one country to another.
I worked with one of the art directors/concept creators from Lo Scarabeo. I was given themes to follow through with and made sketches accordingly. Though, not all the first sketches were perfect. Therefore, there were many changes made to all the cards. Since it was my first time creating oracle cards, I did not fully understand the card measurements, which resulted in some of the images being stretched. In some of the cards, the colours have been heavily adjusted to change the entire mood. It was a stressful process, but in the end, the full result was satisfying.
The art may not be of everyone’s taste, it is simple and colorful, not going too deep into unnecessary details, but very deep into emotional background, having a bittersweetness behind it. I wish people would be influenced by the colorfulness and themes of the cards and live happier because of it. You don’t have to love the art, but you can still appreciate the message it conveys. I hope more people will see the cards and be able to experience the brighter side of life.
The making of Happy Little Things was one of the most life-fulfilling experiences I have ever had and I hope it brings a smile to your face.
